Italy Missions Update - July 2011

Ciao a tutti!  We hope you are all well!  We’re happy to share what the Lord has been doing at Calvary Chapel Treviso this Spring!
CC Treviso Picnic and Park Outreach

We had our 1st CC Treviso picnic this year on May 22nd at Parco Margherita where we’ve held picnics and outreach events in the past.  This recent outreach event was in the form of a carnival.  Eight different games were assembled to challenge the kids.  Each time they won a game, they received a piece of candy!  It was a great day both in terms of the picnic, fellowship and the outreach.  About 45 kids came through the carnival.  Several people from our fellowship had a chance to talk with the parents and share about the church and who we are.  Many voiced interest in visiting us!  Please pray that this interest grows rather than fades away.

Calvary Chapel Italy Retreat 2011

Our annual Calvary Chapel Italy retreat was held in the southern part of Tuscany on the coast of the Terrone Sea.  This is the one time per year that all the Calvary Chapels in Italy have the opportunity to gather and fellowship together.  It was great to see our brothers and sisters from the North and South of Italy whom.  Our guest pastor was Ken Ortize from CC Spokane, Washington.  Ken taught on the keys to a godly marriage and guidelines to raising children in a godly way!  Ken’s style made the teachings applicable even to the singles who were there.  All were blessed by the teachings.
Though the weekend was filled with great teachings and fellowship, there was an injury to one of the kids within our church family at CC Treviso.  During the children’s session, Kyler, a 10 yr. old boy ran head first into a metal bar causing two vertebrae to become fractured.  After many tests, a body cast and several extra days in Tuscany, Kyler and his family returned to Treviso.  Kyler must wear the cast for about one month to ensure that his spine heals correctly.  We are blessed that a complete and fairly speedy recovery is expected.Milena's Dedication
Milena Chiarenza, the second daughter to Emiliano and Helen Chiarenza, was dedicated to the Lord on May 29th.  Our prayer for Milena is that she would grow to know the Lord and to give her heart to Him.  We also prayed for her parents and for wisdom toward them in raising both their daughters!

One On One
The apostle Paul said in 2 Tim 4:7 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”  I particularly like the first part of this verse where Paul expresses the “fight” that he engaged in as he reflects on his life just before he is executed.  It conjures in my mind a match between two men in a “one on one” competition.  And though we are not competing as we share Christ with unbelievers, the opportunities to witness have been most fruitful when dealing with friends and acquaintances in “one on one” scenarios. Both Lori and I have been blessed with many opportunities to develop relationships with neighbors, students and friends that have lead to opportunities to share the gospel.

We once again ask that you join us in prayer as we continue to reach out to share the Gospel of Grace to those who don’t know or understand it.  Please pray for the following and for continued discussions upon our return to Italy:
Maria Giovanna, Valentino, Luca, Giovanna, Giovanni, Sergio, Maria, Diana, Daniele, Guido, Ada, Monica and Claudio, Monica and Giorgio to name just a few.
Back in the States!
June 8th marked the beginning of our 10 week furlough to the States.  Since our arrival, we have visited Bob's parents in Florida.  This was a real blessing as it has been two years since our last visit with them.

During our time in the States, we’ll be working on our home (currently rented).  There are many projects to take care of  including, but not limited to, the replacement of windows, larger landscape work and painting.

Bob also has the opportunity to share at supporting churches and he asks for wisdom in his preparation and teaching.

Thanks for reading our blog and for supporting this ministry.  We look forward to updating you again near the end of August once we return to Italy for another year at Calvary Chapel Treviso.
God bless you and have a great summer!
Bob and Lori Scata
